Delegation of UAE Young Ambassador Program Visits CEFC China

From July 23 to August 7, 2017, the 22-membered delegation of the UAE Young Ambassador Program, jointly initiated by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court of UAE, and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of UAE, paid a 15-day visit to China. On the morning of August 6, the delegation was received at CEFC China by Jiang Chunyu, Director of the International Center of CEFC China, and Zhang Lei, Deputy General Manager of CEFC Group (Middle East) Company Limited, as delegated by Ye Jianming, Chairman of the Board of CEFC China. 

 

Jiang Chunyu briefed the delegation on CEFC China’s corporate culture and development strategies, noting that the company directed by Board Chairman Ye Jianming had focused on major regions for strategic planning of the whole energy value chain in the oil and gas industry, promoted the integration of production capacity under the Belt and Road Initiative in Europe with the Czech Republic as the stronghold, developed an innovative mode of cooperation for the Belt and Road countries with Georgia serving as the bond and built a self-owned financial platform for the company’s long-term sustainable development. CEFC China has incorporated the company’s core values into in its exploration of overseas markets by promoting people-to-people cultural exchanges, CEFC culture and the the China Story in its development in the Czech Republic. In addition, in fulfilling the corporate social responsibilities, CEFC China has been dedicated to international energy diplomacy, cultural exchanges between domestic and overseas markets as well as public welfare undertaking as a member of the UN Global Compact.

Senior officials from CPAFFC recognized and appreciated CEFC China’s reception, noting that the friendship between China and UAE had been consolidated through people-to people exchanges, and the visiting UAE young elites could do their bit for the interconnectivity of the governments and companies of the two countries, hoping that CEFC China could contribute more to the global public diplomacy. Lim Bakir, Project Director of UAE Young Ambassador Program, and Zhang Lei, Deputy General Manager of CEFC Group (Middle East) Company Limited, introduced the delegation’s journey and CEFC China’s business operations in UAE respectively.

During the Q&A session, Jiang Chunyu answered each of the questions raised by young undergraduates from UAE, who showed great interests in how CEFC China has been fulfilling its corporate social responsibility and dedicated itself to environment protection and charity activities as well as the cultivation of young talents. Liu Huabin, Deputy General Manager of the News Center of CEFC China, as the host of the event, interacted with the young people in a friendly manner as a representative of young CEFC China executives during the lively discussion.

 

UAE is an important business stronghold for CEFC China’s planning in the energy sector. This February, CEFC China and ADNOC signed an agreement to secure 4% of the rights and equities of Abu Dhabi’s conceded onshore blocks, marking the closer relationship between China and UAE with the continuous promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative. Through this Young Ambassador Program, outstanding UAE youth were offered an opportunity to get to know China up close. As friendship between the two countries strengthens, communication and collaboration are also on the track for further increment.

During the delegation’s tour to Beijing,Harbin, Changchun, Shanghai and Hangzhou, they communicated and attended seminars with representatives from local governments, companies, colleges and universities, and visited the local historical sites for a all-around exposure to the Chinese culture.
