Li Yong Meets with CEOs of Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Investment Authority

On November 15, 2017 local time, at the invitation of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry of Qatar, a CEFC China delegation led by Li Yong, Executive Director of CEFC China, visited Qatar. Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, CEO of Qatar Petroleum (QP), and Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani, CEO of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), warmly greeted the delegation and held a banquet in their honor.

Li Yong briefed Qatar’s officials and businessmen on CEFC China’s major businesses and strategic layouts as well as the developments of its cooperation with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Rosneft. He noted that, CEFC China has developed a strong partnership with ADNOC through the share acquisition project of Rosneft, and CEFC China looked forward to establishing and expanding its cooperation with QP and QIA in investment in upstream oil and gas projects by enhancing mutual understanding and mutual trust, to jointly make contributions to the economic, trade and cultural exchanges between China and Qatar.


Highly appreciating the achievements CEFC China has made in its layouts in the whole industry chain of the energy sector, the two CEOs elaborated on Qatar’s national development strategies, QP’s overall layout of LNG sector and the plan to boost LNG output, and QIA’s overseas investment strategy. They welcomed CEFC China’s participation in their overall strategies and the layouts regarding the LNG sector, noting that Qatar was ready to increase investment in China’s LNG market by intensifying its cooperation with CEFC China and establish comprehensive collaboration in the upstream oil and gas industry and international investment.


The attendees also include the Vice President of CEFC China, Wu Hongbing, Deputy General Manager of the Investment Department, Cai Feng, Deputy General Manager of the Investment Department, Zha Zhiwei, and Executive Deputy General Manager of CEFC Group (Middle East) Co., Ltd., Zhang Lei.
